The Mowgli Stories. Adapted from The Jungle Books by Rudyard Kipling A young man emerges from the jungle and leads a Forest Officer straight to where the man-eating tiger has hidden. He summons a wild buffalo at will, and even commands a horse some miles away to deliver its rider to him. How is he performing these incredible feats? He says he grew up in the jungle, speaks all the animals' languages and learned their laws. He says that the wolves use their speed and skill to act at his bidding. But can this be true? Mowgli's REAL adventures, as told by Rudyard Kipling, are more extraordinary and a lot more exciting than the Disney cartoon. In this brand new production, Illyria uses an ensemble chorus and a highly stylised performance technique combining masks, puppetry and song. Bring low seating /blankets. The Tin Forest is about an old man who lives in a dreary junkyard, full of other people's broken and unwanted junk. He dreams that one day his world will be full of life, colour and sound. His wish is about to come true...The Tin Forest is an uplifting, humorous and touching show, full of visual invention, puppetry and musical fun...with mechanical birds, a wind-up circus and exotic animals of all shapes and sizes. The show has no words, but a sound-scape of live music and sound effects.

Torrington Music and Arts Day Saturday 4 July All Day At The Plough Arts Centre Over 12 hours of music, fun & participatory workshops spreading from The Plough throughout the town. You will find a fuller timetable on The Plough website or from our box office during June, but these events are bookable now on a first come first served basis. You can also come & have a sneaky 10 minute peek at final preparatory rehearsals for the Plough Youth Theatre's performance of Oklahoma! during the afternoon. Part of the day's proceeds will go to support the work of North Devon Hospice who will also be running a raffle. To be opened by Dr Harry Cramp at 10:00 am. |

Formed from Torrington Players and The Plough Community Theatre, these mature, yet mysteriously interesting and supple woman, will bring you a show of song, sketches and fashion tips for the mature woman. So brush off your cardigans, get out and support two local charities, and the aging cast who, to be honest, don't get out a lot these days. Global Gardeners Exhibition: Veitch & Sons - Exeter's Plant Hunting Adventurers Saturday 25 July to Sunday 23 August Normal Garden Entry at RHS GARDEN ROSEMOOR Lecture Hall This fascinating exhibition charts the adventures of the fearless and intrepid plant hunters sent all over the world by the Exeter and Chelsea firm of Veitch & Sons in the 19th and early 20th centuries to collect new species. The exhibition is organised by Exeter's Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council's Renaissance programme and is part of RAMM's Out and About programme of exhibitions and events while its building is closed for development. |

As well as being able to stroll around the enchanting garden, there will be a variety of attractions for all the family to enjoy, with art and craft workshops, insects and animals to see, and meet the intrepid plant hunters from Exmoor Zoo with their flesh eating plants! There will also be a children's treasure trail plus a number of other garden activities to enjoy. (if wet then events will take place in the Terrace Marquee) |
