The Great British Landscape: Art Exhibition

An exhibition by some of the best contemporary British landscape artists today. The works, in oil, watercolour mixed media, print or needlework, have been brought together from all over the UK and show a wide range of styles from the realistic to the impressionist - each artist interpreting the landscape in his or her own way. An introduction to bee-keeping:

Ever thought about 'growing your own' honey? Today's practical event will provide a basic introduction to the fascinating hobby of bee-keeping, and will cover topics such as the bee-keeper's year, choosing a hive and equipment, common problems and honey extraction. There will be no handling of live bees during this event. Please note the later start time.


Grow-your-own at home: Session 1

If you are a beginner and would like to learn how to manage a good-sized family vegetable plot, then this series of practical demonstrations is for you! We will work our way through the year, looking at what crops to sow, when to sow them, and some of the pitfalls you may encounter.
Sessions 2 and 3 are held on 16 June and 1 October respectively.


Low hurdles: Demonstration with Peter Earl and Lyn Edwards

Tuesday 31 March, at Rosemoor Gardens Lecture Hall, 10am - 4pm

Using the vibrant coloured stems of willows and cornus cut from Rosemoor's Winter Garden -Peter and Lyn will teach you the techniques needed to create low woven hurdles (as used to edge our Potager beds) and a circular plant wrap to contain those wayward herbaceous perennials.


Alpines in Pots: Demonstration with Catherine Norman

Are alpines your thing? Then why not join us for a two-part tour of our alpine collection; a walk to look at how we display our alpines here at Rosemoor, followed by a practical demonstration on how we propagate, grow and care for some of the plants in the collection.



Alpine Day

Alpines are cultivated varieties of wild flowers, originally from the high mountainous regions of the world. Although most of them are relatively small, some see them as the most beautiful plants in the word! Come along today and learn more about these versatile plants.

Bulbs for Small Gardens: Walk with Christopher Bailes

Gardening in small spaces is becoming increasingly widespread, which outdoor space being an issue for many people. This walk will help you to choose the bulbs that will have maximum impact in small spaces and keep your garden, however small it is, looking beautiful!
Easter
This Easter, Rosemoor will be bursting into a riot of colour, with all the spring bulbs in full bloom around the garden! Follow the Easter Garden Trail, see the fabulous Easter flowers and enjoy Easter-themed snacks in the restaurant. We are going to be hatching some baby chicks live in the Foyer so make sure you either come and see them hatching, or pay a visit afterwards to see the cute and fluffy baby chicks!

This is the planned date for the chicks to hatch, but please be aware that they may decide to be a little early or a little late! They will be staying with us for a week after they have hatched.

The choice of equipment available for the amateur gardener these days is quite bewildering. How do we know what is the best tool for the job? Today's demonstration will look at some of the things we should know about choosing the right equipment for the domestic garden.
RHS National Rhododendron Show

Rags to Bags: Two Day Workshop with Jan Tillett

Use recycled and remnant fabrics to create a unique summer handbag embellished with free machine embroidery at this inspiring workshop with textile artist Jan Tillett. This workshop provides an opportunity to learn and develop free machine embroidery techniques in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere which combines direct tuition to the whole group, individual help and plenty of time to experiment. A materials list will be provided.
