Garden Design Course with Mark Lutyens: Part 2 Wednesday 23 September - Friday 25 September, 10.30am - 5pm Cost: £216, RHS member: £180 at RHS Garden Rosemoor Lecture Hall On this three day course students will develop designs for their own chosen project, be it their own garden or that of someone else. Mark Lutyens will provide continuing tuition and advice but students will be expected to generate their own ideas and drawings. Drawing boards, tracing paper and masking tape will be provided but attendees should bring with them basic drawing equipment, a scale survey drawing or site measurements, photos and other site information. For reference purposes, the RHS has a useful library adjoining the lecture hall which attendees will find invaluable; and, for planting inspiration, there are at all times, the extensive and well-labelled Garden at Rosemoor. |

Essence of Light: ![]() Botanical Photograms and Photography Exhibition by Hannah Gates Saturday 21 November - Sunday 6 December, 11am - 4pm Normal Garden entry at RHS Garden Rosemoor Lecture Hall An exhibition of over 70 original botanical photograms by Hannah Gates, together with some of her atmospheric horse photographs. Hannah has a recent first class honours degree in Fashion Photography from the London College of Fashion and is continuing to pursue a career in photography focusing on various areas of the field. A Photogram is an old technique invented by Fox Talbot, that does not use a camera. Instead an image is made purely by using light in the darkroom and developed and fixed in the old fashion wet print process. This is a complicated procedure which takes many hours to get a good result. Hannah has focused her attention on botanical subjects and each photogram is a one off original as there is no negative. Startling images are produced on black backgrounds by the floral silhouettes which experiment with the essence of light. |
