Torrington 1646

This is history as never before as we travel back to 1646 and meet the characters who populated Torrington, North Devon’s forgotten site of the last major battle of the English Civil War.

Situated in the centre of the town, this entertaining family attraction is a fascinating opportunity for visitors to explore life in the 17th Century — the secrets of the Physic Garden, the bum-roll, the rat-catcher and the worms in your teeth!

See how they lived, loved, laughed and lied their way through the English Civil War.

There are opportunities to try on the armour and clothing of this period in history and to watch daily weaponry displays (weather dependent), all amid much fun and laughter.

Dare you join the Barber Surgeon and witness his wondrous treatments for ailments of the body and then still find the strength to enjoy some locally made refreshment in the cafe? The cakes are particularly good.
